Advancing Apple Industry Priorities in the Farm Bill

On April 30, the House of Representatives passed the Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2026, known as the Farm Bill. Nearly all Members of Congress representing major apple-growing districts supported the legislation, including several Democrats.

USApple advocated for passage of the bill throughout the year, including during Capitol Hill Day, when apple industry leaders carried key Farm Bill priorities directly to lawmakers. Read our statement here.

A significant win for specialty crop growers is the inclusion of a framework for future disaster and economic assistance programs modeled on successful efforts such as CFAP 2 and MASC. The legislation also invests in and strengthens crop insurance, agricultural research, and export promotion programs.

The Farm Bill now moves to the Senate. USApple continues to work through the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance and directly with Senate Agriculture Committee leaders to ensure apple and specialty crop priorities are reflected in the Senate bill.
